Faster to Find Interview-quality Applicants
A global professional networking platform partnered with iMerit to evaluate an enterprise hiring agent against real-world talent acquisition standards.
The client was developing an AI hiring agent that interprets job qualifications and recommends ranked candidates. A network of sub-agents handles hiring intent, qualification-to-skill matching, candidate scoring and the rationale behind recommendations. Before enterprise deployment, the client needed to establish whether these interconnected outputs reflected how experienced hiring professionals assess talent.

The challenge extended beyond checking whether an answer sounded plausible. Job requirements had to translate into relevant skills, scores had to apply consistently across candidates, and explanations had to reflect the evidence. The client needed experienced HR and talent acquisition professionals to identify inaccurate or potentially biased judgments and assess whether recommendations were realistic, complete and useful.
“We built a comprehensive quality evaluation system that leverages a combination of expert human judgements and the latest reasoning LLMs”
- Client Project Engineer
The evaluation covered four connected dimensions. In each, experts assessed realism, usefulness and completeness against the requirements of actual talent acquisition work.
iMerit assembled a multilingual evaluation team of more than 70 members, including experienced HR and talent acquisition subject matter experts. The program covered English, German and French, with 30 iMerit Scholars supporting the two non-English languages, split equally between German and French.
Experts evaluated outputs at each sub-agent stage and considered their usefulness within the broader hiring workflow. They explained why specific outputs departed from professional hiring practice and provided actionable recommendations for refinement. This gave the client domain-specific feedback on both individual judgments and the reasoning supporting them.
The engagement ran for more than 12 months and encompassed five iterations. Evaluation supported fine-tuning across core, candidate, recruiting, screening and learning areas, all feeding the same foundation model.
Independent review of interview assessments
For interview evaluation tasks, annotators received a job posting, interview questions, ideal responses, the candidate’s answers and the agent’s assessment of whether the criteria were MET or NOT MET, together with its explanatory summary. Reviewers independently assessed each candidate answer against every ideal-response criterion, then agreed or disagreed with the agent’s judgment.
This review connected the agent’s conclusions to the underlying candidate evidence. Experts identified gaps, explained why an assessment did not reflect real-world hiring practice and recommended improvements. The feedback supported validation before deployment and further model fine-tuning across successive iterations.

iMerit delivered 75,000 hours of expert evaluation over a program spanning more than 12 months. Across five iterations, the team helped the client validate and refine its hiring agent and underlying sub-agents, bringing professional hiring judgment into the development process.
