iMerit launched Ango Scholars on September 28th, a platform that manages onboarding, assessments, background checks, contracts, timesheets, and global payments for its 30,000+ domain experts. It automates Scholar management end-to-end, cutting payment turnaround from 21 to 14 days while scaling iMerit’s expert network for AI evaluation work.
On October 26th, 2026, iMerit officially launched Ango Scholars, a new platform built to manage the hundreds of thousands of global domain experts called Scholars, who power advanced AI fine-tuning, evaluation, and validation work. The launch comes as demand intensifies across the industry for the kind of deep domain expertise needed to move AI systems from lab experimentation into real-world, high-stakes deployment across healthcare, finance, and other regulated industries.
Ango Scholars’ integrates with global payments platform Trolley, and it is designed to make it easier for iMerit’s scholars’ community of over 30,000 experts across 118 countries to onboard, work, and get paid with the broader Scholars pool expected to grow significantly in the months ahead.
While the Scholars program itself is about the people; the physicians, engineers, linguists, and scientists who bring domain knowledge to AI training and evaluation; Ango Scholars is the software layer that makes managing that network at scale possible. Here’s what the platform actually does.
Product Features
Ango Scholars brings a range of capabilities together in one platform. You can see each of these in action in our video guides.
Talent Sourcing and Matching
Anyone can sign up to join iMerit’s talent pool, and iMerit can also directly invite select experts. From there, the platform allows managers to sift through the pool to find and invite the right Scholar for a given job; whether it’s an open, public role anyone can apply to, or a private, invite-only assignment for specialized work.
Scholar Profiles
Scholars build out a profile with their skills, languages, resume, and availability; visible to iMerit’s project managers and select clients when they’re choosing who to bring onto a project. A complete profile means better visibility into who’s the right fit for the work, and better chances for Scholars to be selected.
Onboarding and Verification
Before taking on a job, Scholars go through a structured assessment process, backed by cheating-detection mechanisms to keep evaluations reliable. Identity verification and background checks are built into onboarding as well, along with submission of payment and tax information, and once a Scholar starts even one job, they automatically receive iMerit credentials.
Workspace Accounts
Once a Scholar starts working with iMerit, they get their own workspace account, visible right from their profile, along with the option to reset the password if needed. It’s one more way the platform keeps everything a Scholar needs to get started and stay set up in one place.
Contracts and Communication
The platform automatically generates and sends legally binding job offers and Statements of Work (SOWs), and manages the signing and submission of other required documents. It also tracks all communications sent to each Scholar, preventing the kind of email overload that can happen when managing a large, distributed workforce.
Time Tracking and Payments
Once work begins, Scholars submit timesheets directly on the platform. These are reviewed and approved by managers and automatically converted into draft invoices for Finance to process, and Scholars are paid globally through the platform’s payments infrastructure.
Trust and Fraud Detection
Each Scholar is automatically assigned a trust score, giving iMerit an added layer of protection against fraud across a rapidly growing, global network.
Why It Matters
This shift matters most for scholars. Previously, getting started meant waiting on manual follow-ups for ID verification, background checks, and assessments before any project work could begin. With Ango Scholars, that entire process is self-serve; scholars can complete their assessments and verification independently, minimizing the need for someone else’s bandwidth to move things along. Once onboarded, they can explore the talent pool to find open roles suited to their expertise, or be matched directly with private, specialized assignments. Payments have sped up as well, with turnaround from timesheet submission dropping from 21 days to 14. Altogether, it’s a faster, more independent path from sign-up to real project work, and getting paid for it.
